Unit 221 at 4435 Lower

Check-in/Check-out
Check-in is self service. Check-in time is 3:00 PM. There is no front desk service
in the complex. The unit will be ready for your
arrival. The number is hard to see but we are #221 and we are
the 8th building as you turn right from the entrance. Parking is the stall right next to the unit on
the left looking from the road (parking passes are inside unit).
Complex map and
Driving
directions
are below. There is a lockbox on the entrance doorknob that
will have the keys. Use the provided code to get the keys from
the lockbox. Any problems please contact the property manager at
the numbers below.
- Extra keys, parking passes, and the key to the pool/laundry/tennis area will be on the
kitchen counter or in counter drawer. We like to leave the lockbox keys inside the
lockbox in case access is required without keys.
- Electricity should be on but the electric panel is behind the bathroom
door.
Check-out is also self service. Check-out time is 11 AM. Simply make sure you have all
your belongings and then leave the keys/parking passes inside and lock/shut the
door. Any problems please contact the property manager at the
numbers below. Please do the following before leaving:
- Collect all garbage and place in outside containers.
- Place all used dishes and kitchen items in the dishwasher and
start a wash cycle.
- Remove all perishables and food items from the refrigerator.
- Turn off all lights, AC, and appliances.
- Please try to check-out on time as there may be people checking in on the same day, and the cleaners
need time to make it clean.
Parking
There is a long space
just on left of unit that will fit 2 cars.
This is a designated space for our unit but the management
still requires a permit on the cars in this space. There are laminated parking tags inside the unit
in the left drawer of the kitchen counter as you walk in the unit. Please leave these with the keys
inside the unit when you leave. There are also extra
parking spaces that require a permit tag next to the tennis courts, or also at the 3 oclock
position (close to Kahana Gateway Plaza) of the circular drive
Air Conditioning
- Maui is not like Miami and some people may find that
they do not need any AC with the refreshing breeze from the ocean.
- If there have not been guests staying right before you, the unit may be hot inside upon arrival
as the doors and windows will have been closed, and AC turned off. The unit will cool down quickly
if you open all the windows and doors.
- There is AC in the 2nd bedroom and a portable AC unit between the master bedroom and the living room. This
unit can be pointed in any direction or just used in the bedroom.
Internet
- The high speed
wireless internet connection and modem are in the front bedroom
behind the door on
the computer desk. Details are:

*Newer computers may
need to manually connect to this wireless in order to choose the
WEP security. There are also ethernet cables for wired
connections. If the service is not available, check
that someone has not turned off power to the modem and router.
Shower
- The shower diverter switch (to change water flow from tub to
shower head) can be hard to find as it is at the end of the
lower tub spout. With the water flowing, just pull down on the
nozzle at end of the spout.
TV
- The cable TV has
lots of channels and there is a DVD/CD player. We have up to about 75 channels.
If any of the TVs do not show all the channels, you may need to choose a channel
scan from the TVs menu to get them reset. If the service is not
available, check that someone has not turned off power to the
modem and router in the front bedroom.
Phone
The phone number for
you to use in the unit is 808-214-5322 (this is not a contact
number for us). The service has free calls within North America.

Laundry
- There are good 24hr coin washers/dryers in the complex common area
right at the entrance the complex.
The complex/pool/tennis court key works here after hours. There
is a also another laundry a few steps away in the Kahana Gateway Mall.
Lounge/Library
- There is a nice
lounge in the common area building at the entrance to the
complex. There is a small book exchange shelf there for you to
pickup a new book and perhaps leave one as well.
Garbage/Cleanup
As you exit the unit,
turn left and go about 30 feet and you will see a large garbage
bin for all garbage (no separation required). The garbage is separated later. Please do
not build up garbage in the unit as the tropical critters start
to notice. The ants are very quick to seek out and find food on
the floor. Ants are a fact of life in Maui and we have the unit treated every 3 months.
There is a broom and a vacuum in the cupboard in the
bathroom.
Beach Equipment
- There is a
variety of beach toys, masks/snorkels, folding chairs, sun
umbrellas etc. on the balcony (lanai) that has built up over
time. We do not mange this equipment and the inventory changes
all the time as some equipment wears out and some guests leave
behind their unwanted beach toys.
Pool/BBQ
There is nice round pool
and BBQ area just behind our unit. You can see it partially from
the balcony. There is also a large lap pool just a little
farther away in the complex.
Beaches
Kahana beach (Kahana1,
Kahana2) is just a few steps away (89 adult steps to
be exact) . The easiest access is through the left side of the Hololani
Hotel. The beach gets wider as you go
farther to the left (south). Kahana beach is usually a calm beach and it has
good snorkeling. Of course there are so many other beaches close
by that you will also want to explore. Please see our Beaches

Services
- Everything
is walking distance. The Kahana Gateway mall is just a 1 minute
walk. There is a general store, bank, gas station, MacDonalds,
Coffee Shop, Maui Brewing Company, Black Angus Steakhouse,
laundry, dive shop etc. 1 minute walk south there is a great gym
and health club, pizza/pub, and more shops
Medical Facilities
Maui has very good
medical care facilities. If you have an emergency you can call
911. To see a doctor, you can use the walk-in clinics of Doctors
on Call 808-667-7676

http://westmauidoctors.com/ Both are in Kanapali. If you
need to go to emergency, the Maui Memorial Hospital is 45
minutes away near the airport at 221 Mahalani St Wailuku. Maui
has many pharmacies.

Destination will be on the right 0.4 mi
The complex is on the ocean side of the Kahana Gateway Mall
(locals will know where this is). The unit is #221 on the 2nd
floor. There is a long parking space for 2 cars end to end on
the left side of the unit which says 221. The driveway in the
complex is a narrow one-way road which goes in a big clockwise
circle from the entrance/exit at the main road. If you consider
that the entrance/exit from the main road is at 6 oclock as you
drive in, then our unit is very close to the entrance/exit at
about the 5 oclock position. As you are not supposed to go
counter-clockwise on the road, you may have to drive all the way
around the first time. As you get to know the complex you can
save time by just driving in a short distance to the right
against the one way if you see that no cars are coming out. The
unit numbers can be hard to see at night. There is a lockbox to
the right of the entrance that will have the keys. The complex
